7 Days To Die

7 Days To Die is a survival crafting game with a huge world. You start as a survivor with no equipment or even clothing, and must survive for as long as possible by taking care of your needs and fighting back the infected. You can build, craft new tools and weapons, and even go mining! It's an all in one packed to the brim with fun.

In 7 Days To Die, the character you play can be customised to almost every extent, with many, many little sliders that change how you look. It's a feature that I'm sure most of you have seen in many games before. Nothing much to say about it, except you happen to look ugly most of the time.

The game also features several game modes. The basic survival mode, which is the main mode of play, you begin with nothing and build up. You then have survival multiplayer mode, get more people in on the fun and the difficulty mostly reduces. Much better if you play against one another. The game's world is still the same size but more fun can be had with a rival than a friend. You then have creative mode which is an empty sandbox, you are in god mode and can do experiments without being interrupted by zombies.

The zombies! the enemy you will be facing is of course an endless horde of corpses! They might not at all seem like a threat, but that is a mistake that many before you have made. They have strength in numbers and getting hit by one might cause bleeding, and possibly stun you, which will in turn, cause more zombies to get a hit in, and kill you.

And don't think that you will only face simple normal zombies, they of course have special zombies! We have a Bloat, which of course is a fat guy, who has more health and causes more damage to everything. Dogs, which are almost certain death for a new survivor, they come in packs too, say goodbye to that new character you just created if you meet dogs. A rarer zombie you may see around is the spider zombie, who has the ability to climb almost anything, your walls won't save you from him. There are even more which I'll let you find yourself.

In the beginning, you should probably find shelter at night. At night, the zombies become much faster and more powerful, but not just that, they become much more aggressive too, if they spot you, they will never stop, and visibility of course becomes poor too, which is another disadvantage.

To survive a length of time, you are going to need to collect food and water, which is not as common as you might think. Later on, you can begin to farm your food with crops that you can plant and reduce your reliance on scavenging for food to survive.

To obtain much better equipment, as the best equipment has a small chance of being looted, and you still need resources to fuel and repair that equipment, you are going to need to craft. Crafting is simply a process of obtaining all the materials you need and putting it together in the crafting window. You can make damn near everything that you need to survive and thrive.

To progress, you're going to have to obtain tools, they can either be crafted from the most basic materials or found. With these tools you can then effectively collect more quality materials and begin the construction of a fortress, or even bunker.

Now this is an interesting one. This game features a stealth system, you can now sneak around the zombies and loot in peace. Well that is until they smell you or your items. If they detect a smell, then they will go towards its general direction. You can distract the zombies by throwing a rock or some such away from yourself. The zombies won't know any better, but if they spot you, there is almost no chance of getting away unless you kill all of them.

The world actually has tonnes to explore, you have the different biomes which spawn differing types of infected and loot, you have different buildings which you can loot, and dissemble into resources if you want. And loads of other zones and features that you can explore.

The amount of weapons available I would say is a bit on the short side, but enough. You have a range of melee and ranged weapons, which follows an upgrade tree, getting more effective and damaging. With end game weapons and armour, you will be able to take on hordes without breaking a sweat, and if you have a good fortress set up, it only gets easier, traps can be set up all over the place.

In this game you can mine! A 3D zombie game that you can mine in, that is actually pretty damn cool I say. This allows you to dig out complex tunnels, and to mine for resources. The game has a nice list of resources for you to exploit, but you will need the tools to do so. If you go mining, you will find plenty of resources to process into deadly weapons and new better tools.

Your fortress can be built from a huge array of materials, at the start it may just be a stack of literal trash you found lying around, but later on, you might move to a better location or continue improving it with better quality materials which are tougher to break down. Buildings can be made to collapse, and watching them fall isn't as spectacular as I'd like, but it's something. Not every game I've tried has collapsing buildings, or loads of other stuff this game offers.

I would recommend to read the beginners guide available here, which will set you up on how to best begin playing. It can be frustrating at times, dying multiple times and losing your items because you have no idea what you should be doing next. There are no strict steps, it's a sandbox game after all.

Conclusion:
This game has much to offer even if it's still in development. The progress seems to be going fine in my opinion and I would totally recommend that you hop on about now. It has almost all the main features that will keep you interest and from a distance, it looks like it's a near finished bug free game already.

Get it here!
